If you’re one of those users who are constantly looking to make their phone run faster or, on the other side, you’re tired of your slow phone, we have a short list of tips which you can use in order to speed up your Android smartphone.
And no, we’re not talking about some magical apps which can make your single-core device run blazing fast, just like the latest quad-core models. No, our tips can be applied for each device with Android 4.1 or higher, making the whole user experience a bit pleasant.
As you probably noticed, Google considers the animations from its mobile operating system very important, like those when you scroll between pages, open and close pages and so on. As good as they might look, these effects add a serious amount of lag, which for some of us can be annoying. So, what should you do in this case in order to speed up your Android? Turn them off, of course.
In order to do this, you need to access the Developer options. On Android 4.1, the feature can be easily accessed if you go through the settings menu, but since Android 4.2, it was hidden, so in order to find it, you need to do the following:
-find the “About device” section in the settings menu;
-scroll down to “Build number” and tap it 7 times. After 5 times, a message telling you that you’re about to unlock this feature will appear. Keep tapping;
-back out to the “About device” menu;
You should now see the “Developer options” menu listed.
Now, all you have to do is to speed up your Android device. In order to do this, enter your newly unlocked menu and you will find three options: Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator animation scale.
Turn them and and change their settings. By default, the values should be at 1 x, but changing them to 0.5 x will reduce the time needed by each animation to complete at half and the difference will be pretty obvious. Also, you can turn them off and experience a really fast Android user interface.
And this is it. Pretty simple, huh? If you know any other similar tips which you’re using to speed up your Android device, you can always share them with us, using the comments section.
